Tuber Maturity Trial – The goal of this project is to evaluate advanced breeding lines for tuber maturity and skin healing during storage. This project was funded by the Colorado Potato Administrative Committees (CPAC) Areas II and III. Results from this trial are included in our annual reports here.
Breeding for Disease Resistance – The goal of this project is to determine if our germplasm has any actual resistance to PMTV, breed for lines that are tolerant or resistant to PMTV and PVY, and release PVY resistant varieties that yield and size competitively with current commercial varieties. This project is funded in part by CPAC Area II.
Evaluating Breeding Population for TRV Resistance – The goal of this project is to identify TRV resistant clones from a breeding population and incorporate these clones into our breeding population. This project is funded by CPAC Area II.
CPAC Variety Trial – The goal of this trial is to evaluate advanced breeding lines under commercial growing conditions and get feedback from the cooperating growers. It is an incentive-based program to promote the evaluation of advanced Colorado potato selections and provide CSU with valuable feedback. A third party digs 10-foot test plots from each field and shares the results. The results and grower feedback help CSU decide to keep trialing, discard or release the varieties. Results from this trial can be found in our annual reports here.
